Emily and Meritt had always admired Kate Spade for their convicted point of view, classic charm and impeccable quality. Kate Spade’s creative director, Deborah Lloyd, was enchanted by Emily and Meritt’s distinctive West Coast aesthetic and unique knack for committed and effective branding. After recognizing a shared love of whimsical Americana, together they created a successful line of adventure inspired bags aptly named, “WESTWARD”. The collection was comprised of six thoughtful styles and was a lovely mix of vintage silhouettes and classic Kate Spade New York shapes. Each style was made of a mix of traditional luggage leather, antiqued hardware, broken-in suede and the sweet irony of metallic sequins for added sparkle. The WESTWARD collection had a classic-meets-whimsical spirit that was as adventurous and charming as the gal who carried it.
